Hands On Art is an enhancement and entertainment program for children and adults. We offer age developmentally appropriate classes, parties, and workshops. Mixed media activities include painting, drawing, collage, acrylics, sculpture and more!
Our bright and colorful studio provides a safe atmosphere that is welcoming for students. Here children can feel free and uninhibited to explore their creativity without worrying about making a mess!
Young children are introduced to a supportive social environment in which they are able to gradually explore their independence. They also have the opportunity to build social and coordinated skills as well as a deeper sense of self-awareness and self-confidence. Older children are guided through the creative process by the encouragement of original and creative self-expression and most important, “effort”.
Each program has been carefully designed based on research, experience and working with children of all ages. There is not one method that works for all, that’s why each class has been customized to suit each student’s needs.
We strive to stimulate the thoughts, feelings, and perception of our students in a way that inspires and encourages them to express their ideas visually while offering guidance as needed.
As a young child, Iraima Otteson developed a love for art. She graduated as a Graphic Designer, in the Institute of Graphic Design Maracay, Venezuela-South America, but it was not only at school where she learned to work with a diversity of art mediums, but her self-motivation and passion lead her to a career of more than 20 years of experience as an artist and love of teaching children the joy and passion of art.
Iraima is gifted not only as an artist, she sees every child as a potential creator. She has the patience to work with and help children find their strengths by allowing each of her students to be creative in their own way.Iraima respects every child’s ideas while they find their strengths and develop them through imagination, visualization, and effort; that is what makes us unique.
“Value effort over natural ability”, Iraima tells her students this over and over because she believes that in life, effort and persistence toward our goals will help us succeed more so than natural ability.
There are many children that are incredibly smart and talented, but unfortunately are afraid to try new ideas for fear of making a mistake. Iraima also said, Our studio is a safe place to make mistakes, it’s actually a lab and we are at work building geniuses, not just artists! These kids will grow to have passion and love for life.
